A REPORT ON ALDROVANDA-VESICULOSA L FROM NORTHERN SWITZERLAND AND A NOTE ON STRATIOTES-ALOIDES L

A range extension is reported for Aldrovanda vesiculosa in Northern Switzerland. This species was found in a pond with a surface of about 3500 m2, surrounded by a wide marsh covered with Phragmites and other plants. The water was brownish, low in nutrients, slightly acid and poorly stratified. A. vesiculosa was found in large numbers, in association with Utricularia australis and Stratiotes aloides. A sample of 252 traps of these plants showed that small crustaceans were the main prey. The latter also included a few insect larvae and two small snails.
