摘要
Undeveloped cysts of the brine shrimp, Artemia salina, contain a sulfur derivative of ascorbic acid, the properties of which are consistent with those expected of ascorbic acid sulfate. Aqueous solutions of this substance are stable under a variety of conditions at room temperature. The compound is nonreducing, exhibits a characteristic ultraviolet absorption spectrum, and is converted by mild acid hydrolysis into a substance whose properties are identical with those of ascorbic acid. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
