摘要
The Unionist views of David Hume are considered within the context of Scottish Enlightenment. It is shown that his ideas were influenced by ideological and social changes of the 18th c. Factors that shaped social and cultural context for the Unionism are the dynamics of religion (developments within the Presbyterian tradition, the emergence of moderatism) and the development of the traditions of history-writing that reflected the transformations of the Scottish national identity.
