摘要
Background. Continuous medical care is required for patients after biventricular repair of congenital heart disease. Objective. Presentation of a pediatric cardiologist's view within the heart team. Material and methods. An analysis of the German Heart Report and the German Quality Assurance for Congenital Heart Disease was carried out. The results of studies and review articles are discussed. Results. The results of biventricular repair are nowadays excellent even for complex heart defects. Treatment techniques vary between the centers. Indications for preventive redo interventions are partly covered by guideline recommendations but are also influenced by individual patient considerations. Neurodevelopmental disabilities are the most common and potentially the most significant impairment for patients. Conclusion. Clinical and scientific long-term observational follow-up remain an important task. Risk factors and pathomechanisms of neurodevelopmental sequelae require further investigation for a better understanding. Due to excellent survival rates after biventricular repair, attention should be shifted to the patient's quality of life.
