REFRACTIVE-INDEX AS A MEASURE FOR SATURATION AND SUPERSATURATION IN CRYSTAL-GROWTH OF WATER-SOLUBLE SUBSTANCES

摘要
For the purpose of monitoring concentration during crystal growth, the refractive indices of saturated and supersaturated aqueous solutions of forty five substances were measured at various temperatures by using a total reflection refractometer and a laser. The data were compiled and discussed in relation to the solubility, the degree of supersaturation, the specific gravity and the achievable undercooling. The refractive index is a more convenient measure of concentration, as compared to specific gravity. © 1990.
