CORRELATION OF CRITICAL FREQUENCY F0F2 BETWEEN A PAIR OF MID-LATITUDE MAGNETICALLY CONJUGATE POINTS

Correlation functions have been evaluated from hourly values of f{hook}0F2 for Campbell Island and three Alaskan stations and examined for evidence of conjugate point coupling. Only a very weak coupling has been found: it is much weaker than the coupling between two northern stations 2000 km apart. It is stressed that had correlation coefficients been calculated only for zero time shift, then in many cases the coefficients would have been interpreted incorrectly due to the presence of long period variations in the data which could mask the instantaneous variations. © 1969.
