摘要
Electroporation is the creation of pores in a cell by applying an external electrical field and creating a voltage in the range of 200mV-1 Vacross the cell's membrane. This process is used intentionally in order to introduce chemicals, drugs or DNA into a cell. A model was created to determine whether electroporation would occur during the use of the signals typically used during functional electrical stimulation of skin and if it occurs what effect it has on the overall impedance of skin. Results from the simulation show that there is a threefold reduction in the electrical impedance of the cells.
