摘要
A catalog of identifications and positions for 3155 A, F, and G stars at the south Galactic pole is presented. The new thin-prism spectra survey yields a set of uniformly selected A, F, and early G stars to a limiting magnitude of 16.0. The positions are based on PDS scans of a 6.3-degrees x 6.3-degrees UK Schmidt direct film centered on the SGP. Objective-prism plates covering approximately 100 deg2 centered on the SGP were obtained using the Michigan Curtis Schmidt telescope at CTIO with a dispersion of 1360 angstrom mm-1. Approximately 30% of the catalog stars now have 2D-Frutti MK spectral types and uvby,Hbeta photometry. Of 822 spectra classified with luminosities, 76 stars (9%) have classes III and IV-III; 21 (3%) stars are class IV, 669 stars (81%) are of luminosity classes V and V-IV, and 56 stars (7%) are classified as Vw for weak-lined or intermediate Population II objects. The mean spectral distribution for dwarf stars peaks at F9.3 V and declines sharply at G4. The mean color index for 1 104 stars is [b - y] = 0.359 +/- 0.080, a value typical of F9 V. Correlations between spectral types and photometry (b - y) index are also presented. Detailed analyses of radial velocity determinations using cross-correlation techniques and direct CCD and ASCAP photometry will be reported in a subsequent paper. The purpose of publishing the catalog at this stage is to invite other investigators to collaborate in collecting the photometric and spectroscopic data.
