High temperature behavior of TiAl alloys coated by cobalt aluminide

摘要
A cobalt aluminide coating was developed on pack cemented Ti48Al and Ti6Al4V alloys by electroplating a Co film followed by a high Al activity pack cementation. In subsurface of aluminized TiAl alloys TiAl3 and Ti2Al3 intermetallic phase are present. Aluminized cobalt layer consist of Co4Al13, Co2Al5 intermetallic phase. During oxidation in air at 800 degrees C a protective Al2O3 scale is formed. Phase analysis and distribution of elements are studied by SEM
