摘要
Diabetes is prevalent world-wide and is stated to be a silent killer. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. There are hundreds of medicinal plants that have a long history of curative properties against various diseases and ailments. A variety of plant preparations have been mentioned in Ayurveda and other indigenous systems of medicine, which are claimed to be useful in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. In our study, the herb Coccinia indica was targeted to treat diabetes mellitus. In present work, Thermal refluence distillation concentrator is used as the reactor for herbal plant extraction and the herb residue should be drained out after the solvent recovery. The content of the capsule powder is dissolved in methanol and TLC studies of the methanol extract has been carried out and compared with the reference standard synthetic medicines used for diabetes e.g. glibenclamide, tolbutamide, acetohexamide, glipizide, tolazamide, chlorpropamide, glucophage, repaglinide and actos using different mobile phases. The above compounds were found absent in the capsule contents. The capsule content is chromatographed with the Coccinia indica plant extract (provided with the sample) which were found identical with each other. Thus our studies have shown that the product Qcciniaherb r is 100% natural extract from Coccinia indica and it has an optimal effect in combination with vitamin D3. The herbal medicine is used for Diabetes mellitus and its late effect to regulate and reduce blood sugar level naturally, improves blood lipid levels and reduces insulin resistance, and helps in glycemic control.
