摘要
Examination of the Fourier method of crystal structure analysis, in which the distribution of electron density is calculated with the observed structure amplitudes combined with phase angles obtained from an assumed model, leads to the not unexpected conclusion that proof of structure cannot be obtained in this way, particularly when only low-resolution data are available.
