摘要：

Location-allocation models and the urban functions approach should not be viewed as mutually exclusive alternatives. Location-allocation models can have a useful role within the broader urban functions approach to regional development planning. A more systematic treatment of the conflicting objectives inherent to regional planning and a better understanding of the effects of infrastructure on regional economies in developing countries both would be valuable in strengthening the urban functions approach. © 1990, Sage Publications.
