摘要
A small hydrocylone has been used to classify mechanical pulp fibres into fractions of differing specific surface, with ray cells at the low end of the range and fibrillar fragmented material at the high end. The turbidities at constant consistency of these fractions, which were found to correlate with specific filtration resistance, were used as a relative measurement of the specific surface of the classified fines. The resulting distribution of specific surface yielded a quantitative characterization of mechanical pulp fines.
