CHEMOSORPTION AND OXIDATION OF CARBON-MONOXIDE ON PALLADIUM ALLOYS

摘要
Kinetic and adsorptional (programmed thermodesorption in situ) data obtained from the oxidation reaction of carbon monoxide on palladium alloys with silver and gold are discussed. It is shown that the local interaction is decisive and active cluster-sites being palladium-monoatomic and binding weakly a chemosorbed CO molecule are optimal for the catalysis. Silver activates the second component: oxygen. The cluster model permits predicting optimal composition of Pd-Ag-catalysts of CO oxidation and explaining the activity/composition dependence for Pd-Au samples.
