An ELISA test was developed to demonstrate the antibodies of bovine respiratory syncytial (BRS) virus. The antigen was prepared from the rotated cultures of calf kidney cells infected with the W-220 strain of BRS virus after ultrasonic and trypsin treatments and PEG-6000 virus protein precipitation. Based on the negative results of tests obtained on control antigens, as well as with IBR, BVD, adeno-, rota- and coronavirus hyperimmune and parainfluenza-3 positive sera, the test proved to be specific for BRS virus antibodies During the examination of 236 serum samples, the susceptibility of ELISA and virus-neutralization tests were 92.3% and 91.2%, respectively (Table).
