Medicine's genomic and proteomics era

The present conception of disease, included in the interaction process genome-proteomemetabolome- environment, induces a reflection on the curricular content of the medicine career. The necessity of genomics in the understanding of the human nature and in the development of its diseases, is a process that will change the fundamental concepts of the practice, and will generate a vision of the clinical handling, based on a complexity that does not exclude the genetic nature of individuals, nor rejects the environmental influence in the physiopathological process. This complexity must be discussed throughout the training of a medical student.
