EQUIVALENCE OF SURFACE-AREAS DETERMINED BY NITROGEN ADSORPTION AND BY MERCURY POROSIMETRY

摘要
Surface areas were measured by nitrogen adsorption (the BET method) and by mercury porosimetry on similar compacts of MgO and of diatomite. The agreement in the measured areas is excellent, considering the limitations of the two methods. However, surface areas calculated from crystal sizes were found to be about twice those from the other methods.
