摘要
The phase relationships in the Li-Sn system were investigated in the composition region between the phase Li7Sn2 and the phase LiSn to determine the equilibrium conditions for the existence of Li13Sn5. Thermal analysis and metallography were employed. The general features, including liquidus data, of the Li-Sn diagram in Hansen's compilation were confirmed, but the peritectic reaction associated in that diagram with Li5Sn2 was found to be the peritectic melting of Li13Sn5; the peritectic melting of Li5Sn2 occurred about eighteen degrees lower in temperature. Severe microcracking was observed in all solid alloys that were equilibrated and quenched from temperatures above 782 K. © 1979.
