The interaction of nitric oxide with carbon monoxide is investigated in the presence of aqueous solutions of pentacyanide complexes of cobalt. It is found that the reaction product composition depends on the degree of oxidation of cobalt, the origin of the sixth ligand in the coordination sphere of the pentacyanide complex, and the composition of the starting gas mixture.
