Hair and scalp evaluation techniques can be classified into 3 categories: noninvasive methods (clinical history, general examination, inspection and palpation of the hair and scalp, photography, dermoscopy, etc.); semi-invasive methods (the trichogram); and invasive methods (biopsy).
