LIGHT AND HEAVY EXCITONIC POLARONS IN CONJUGATED POLYMERS

摘要
The steady state fluorescence spectra of members of the poly(arylenevinylene) family as well as of poly(dodecylthiophene) have been measured employing the site selection technique. It allows the recovery of the fluorescence spectra of chromophores unaffected by spectral diffusion. In all cases the exciton picture is found appropriate for analysing the luminescence properties. The exciton is dressed by a structural deformation (excitonic polaron), the main contribution to the relaxation being torsional motion within the conjugated backbone.
