摘要：

A detailed understanding of the anatomy of the upper eyelid is fundamental to any consideration of the approaches to surgical treatment of eyelid disorders. This review covers the detailed anatomy of the major components of the upper lid, which are commonly encountered in surgical practice. A review of this anatomy in a historical context is provided. In addition, the impact of contemporary anatomical information deriving from newer techniques and technologies is appraised.
