LIABILITY OF THE VETERINARIAN PERTAINING TO INTRAVENOUS-INJECTION

Injections, particular intravenous injections, may, in case of complications, sometimes lead to liability claims. Important court decisions are available pertaining to the subject with which every practising veterinarian should be familiar. The paper presents decisions pertaining to the risks of intravenous injection (shock in particular), information of the client and the role of the product information in this context, to questions of injection technique and the examination of the animal after the injection. A short description of the facts of the case is given wherever this is necessary to better understand the decisions as such. References are quoted.
