摘要：
This paper presents a compact storage scheme for the (rectangular) equilibrium matrix of a general structural assembly, and a simple yet efficient algorithm for solving the system of equilibrium equations without ever exceeding the number of coefficients stored at the beginning. An implementation of the algorithm, written in C, is given in the Appendix.
