The main question of this article is understanding the meaning and place of the Philosophy classic text in Philosophy classes of High School. The reintegration of Philosophy as a compulsory subject in High School curriculum throughout the national territory and particularly how it has been happening in the State of Parana, was crucial to the analysis proposed. It presents an assessment of how Philosophy is listed as a curriculum subject in public schools in Parana, as well as an analysis of how teachers understand the Philosophy classic text use in classes. The empirical survey was conducted from August to December 2010 from questionnaires answered by 148 (approximately 10%) teachers from public schools in the state of Parana, a total of 1,377 questionnaires were sent. In 2010, according to the Law 11.684/08, the Philosophy teaching in High School is compulsory. Then, it is presented in all 1429 schools with High School at least in two series. Concerning to the use of the text, it was possible to conclude that somehow the Philosophy texts are present in classrooms, but not always training makes possible conditions for effective work with the philosophical text.
