Religious Media Literacy in terms of Necessity of Religious Education

Media literacy is one of the key concepts that brought to agenda against destructive effects of media every passing day. Religious media literacy is also a concept that can be used to reduce the damage that occurs in the individual's religious attitudes and behaviors by the media. In this study, it is dealt with the impact of religious media literacy on individual's religious formation. In this context, we tried to explain the concept of media literacy and after that, it is pointed out the importance of the concept of religious media literacy. Then it is focused on the media and individual-based reasons that require religious media literacy. Finally, for healthy religious development, it has been emphasized on religious medialiteracy skills that human have to. As a result, it is concluded that religious literacy should be a prerequisite for religious media literacy.
