PHOTON ANTENNAE ASSEMBLED BY NUCLEIC-ACID BASE-PAIRING

摘要
One or two free-base (H2P) or zinc (ZnP) porphyrins have been covalently attached to the nucleic acid bases cytosine and guanine. Upon mixing in CHCl3, the bases dimerize (-13.3 < DELTA-G-degrees < -7.9 kJ mol-1), via multipoint hydrogen bonding, to produce flexible ensembles in which photons harvested by ZnP subunits are transferred to the complementary H2P. Energy transfer is observed from both singlet and triplet excited states of the ZnP subunit.
