摘要
This article offers same speculations about educational gerontology in the year 2010. The benefits and liabilities of predicting the future are noted, along with the observation that speculative forecasts are not always perfect. Nevertheless, there are some aspects of the future population, such as increasing numbers of relatively healthy older Americans, that are safe to predict. An area where prediction is more risky is the federal government’s role in social programs. Some speculations about the future role of governmental programs are offered following an analysis of public policy since 1965. © 1990 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
