Detailed examination of brain tumors as described above yields clinically significant information unobtainable by routine scintigraphy. It is complementary to computed tomography, and provides indications on vessel permeability and vascularity, the factors governing pertechnetate uptake, which may be suggestive of the nature of the tumor. It should be performed, as a reinforcement of the routine examination, in patients where brain tumor has been diagnosed or is strongly suspected.
