The stability constants and composition of various transition metal complexes with hydroxy-citronellal (2 cis-3-7-dimethyl-7-hydroxy octan 1-al) have been communicated. Stability constants have been evaluated by Dey and Mukerjee's method using Job's curve and wers found in the range of 7.6 ± 1 x 10-4. The stoichiometrjc ratios of metal to ligand (1:2) have been studied by conductometric, pH metric, spec trophotome tne, elemental analysis, infrared spectra studies and magnetic measurements. The complexes were found to be spin-free octaredial. Free energy changes were calculated by Gibb's Hclmholtz equation and found to be in the range of 6.59 ± 0.01 K. cal. at 25° C. © (1980), (Indian Academy of Sciences). All Rights Reserved.
