The distribution of dipicrylaminates in the systems nitrobenzene - 0·09-0·24 N Me(NO3)2, ∼ 10-4N Me(OH)2, (10-3-10-1)N Me(DPA)2 was studied colorimetrically (Me = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba). The partition of tracer amounts of Ca, Sr, and Ba in the system nitrobenzene - 0·03-0·11 M LiNO3, ∼ 10-4 M LiOH, 5 × 10-4-5 × 10-2 M LiDPA and of Ca, Sr, and Ba in the system nitrobenzene - 0·01-0·M NaNO3, ∼ 10-4M NaOH, 2 × 10-3-5 × 10-2M NaTPB was studied radiometrically. A complete dissociation in the aqueous phase and a partial dissociation in nitrobenzene is assumed. The values of the respective concentration equilibrium constants were calculated. Data on extraction of water into the nitrobenzene phase are also presented. Conductivity measurements of the extracts support the extraction mechanism proposed. The values of equilibrium constants obtained are discussed. © 1969.
