THE LUMINESCENCE OF DIVALENT AND TRIVALENT RARE-EARTH IONS IN SYAM-FLUORIDE GLASS

摘要
The luminescence of several divalent and trivalent rare earth ions in SYAM fluoride glass (33 mole% SrF2, 16% YF3, 35% AlF3, 16% MgF2) is reported, and compared with the luminescence of these ions in SrB4O7 glass. This study concentrates on transitions of the broad-band type. The following dopant ions are studied: Sm2+, Eu2+, Yb2+, Ce3+, Pr3+, Eu3+, Cd3+ and Tb3+. Several efficiently luminescent glasses were found. The results lead to conclusions about the factors which determine the luminescence efficiency in glasses.
