An attempt was made to analyse the variations in the amount of segregation of phosphorus and silicon (as much as plus or minus 26 percent of average values) at a symmetrical left brace 013 right brace tilt grain boundary of an Fe-Si dilute alloy bicrystal. Because of the limited resolution of the apparatus used (3000 nm) the correlation with structural features could not be made unambiguously. In the present work similar experiments were performed by means of an instrument with better resolution (80 to 100 nm). Thus, more local information was obtained which supports the interpretation of measured segregation data. The effects of the structure were confirmed by scanning Auger microscopy. 5 Refs.
