摘要：

This paper presents some thoughts on the sources for the history of science and technology, based upon authors' experience in archives of Brazilian scientific institutions. It assumes the view that documental management is indispensable and inseparable from the preservation of sources, which are connected, at the same time, to the intention of telling, to the need to record versions and narratives, and to the general and broader education of scientists and non-scientists.
