A modification of the technique by Sanders for ventilating a paralysed patient through an open-ended bronchoscope using the venturi principle is described. In comparison to other techniques of conducting bronchoscopies under general anaesthesia, this technique appears to be superior in regard to simplicity of the equipment, the anaesthetic technique, and the adequacy of ventilation, and it interferes least with manipulation by the bronchoscopist. © 1969 Canadian Anesthesiologists.
