After surveying the developments in clinical chemistry between 1840 and 1914, the author lists Sandor Koranyi, Laszlo Udranszky and Kalman Pandy as famous Hungarian representatives of the period. He then continues with those of the years from 1914 to 1946, emphasizing the work done by Mihaly Somogyi and Lorand Jendrassik. Of the host of today's clinical chemists he finally highlights the role of Gabor Szasz.
