摘要
Karl Marx has been charged by some to have been "speciesist'' or "anthropocentric,'' radically favoring human emancipation at the expense of animals. This assertion stems in part from his critical comments concerning animal welfare. This essay concisely reviews Marx's remarks on animal welfare, arguing that they are a critique of bourgeois hypocrisy and social reformism and should not be interpreted as negative comments against concern for animal cruelty itself.
