ELECTROCHEMICAL GENERATOR OF HYDROGEN FOR THE PREPARATION OF GASEOUS-MIXTURES FOR THE TESTING OF HYDROGEN SENSORS

A simple generator of hydrogen is described. A Nafion membrane is used in the generator to separate cathodic and anodic compartments. The membrane prevents electrolyte solution from being transported from one compartment to the other even if the pressure differs in both compartments; this usually happens when one compartment (cathodic, in this case) is a part of the apparatus for the preparation of the gaseous mixture and the other is opened to the atmosphere. Two construction variants of the generator are described, one having a very low dead volume. It is evident that the generator can be also used for oxygen generation.
