RATIO OF GRAIN BOUNDARY TO SURFACE ENERGY FOR URANIUM CARBIDE

摘要
The ratio of the grain boundary energy to the solid surface energy for stoichiometric uranium carbide has been calculated from the median grain-boundary groove angles produced at temperatures of 1100-1600 °C in argon atmospheres. The extreme values of the ratio are 0.355 and 0.407; the average ratio for all the individual grooves is 0.377 which is close to that found for many fcc metals. © 1968.
