摘要
Objective: In this study, we sought the effect of hormone therapy on hearing in postmenopausal women. Materials and Methods: Twenty-six postmenopausal women in the age range of 43-58 years treated with 0.625 mg conjugate estrogen + 2.5 mg medroxyprogesterone acetate daily were included in the study. All women were in our survilliance during the study in Kaharamanmarafl Sutcuimam University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Hearing tests were performed to all patients at the beginning of the therapy and after three months of the therapy. The low (250-2000 Hz) and high (4000-6000 Hz) frequency hearing thresholds prior to the treatment were compared with the values obtained after three months. Results: Audiological tests revealed that, hearing treshold values were not significantly different after three months of the therapy when compared to the values prior to therapy neither in lower (250-2000kHz) nor in higher (4000-6000) frequencies (p>0.05). Conclusion: We conclude that hormone therapy in postmenopausal women have neither negative nor positive effects on hearing.
