An extended UNIFAC equation is proposed for the correlation and prediction of liquid-liquid equilibrium data for ammonium sulfate-polyethylene glycol (PEG) aqueous two-phase systems. The Fowler-Guggenheim equation is also used to calculate the long-range electrostatic interactions of the ions, taking into account the ion association of NH4+ and SO4(2-) in both phases. Three experimental series with the PEG molecular weight of 1000, 1540 and 2000 were used to regress the UNIFAC group interaction parameters needed in the proposed equation, and the series with the PEG molecular weight of 4000 is predicted. The results show that the extended UNIFAC equation has good predictive capability.
