Least-Squares Estimator for Polluted Stream Variables in a Distributed Parameter Model

摘要
An optimal linear estimator is constructed to determine the concentrations of the dissolved oxygen (DO) and the biological oxygen demand (BOD). The mathematical model used is a set of modified Streeter-Phelps equations specified by partial differential equations. The noise corrupted measurements of the DO concentration are continuous in time but discrete in space. The optimal estimation is obtained by the application of the innovations approach. The resulting estimator equations (partial differential equations) are prescuied and their solution discussed.
