Effects of longterm selection in two mouse populations on external body proportions (nose-rump length, tail and femur length) and organ weights (liver, kidney, m.triceps surae) of 8-week old mice were investigated. Selection for 18 generations was for resp. against 8-week weight or weight gain from 3 to 5 weeks and, in one line, for weight gain and against 8 week weight. Unselected lines served as controls. Two way selection caused largely proportional changes in length and organ weights changed dysproportionally. Antagonistically selected animals of the two populations differed little from controls.
