NTTS ROLE IN THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS OF DEVELOPING-COUNTRIES AND FUTURE-ISSUES - TOWARD THE EFFECTIVE REALIZATION OF INTERNATIONAL-COOPERATION

In recent years, Japan has become one of the major economic powers of the world. It is now actively carrying out international cooperative activities through its Official Development Assistance (ODA) following the principles of humanitarian considerations and recognition of interdependence, and is making large contributions to the world development. Recently, Japan has been steadily increasing the amount of ODA and been making many efforts to enhance the level quality of this aid. Here, I would like to introduce the following three kinds of aid activities that NTT undertakes or supports at requests from the Japanese Government: (1) Dispatching overseas cooperation experts (2) Accepting technical trainees from overseas (3) Supporting and allowing employees to join Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers in addition to NTT's own independent activities which are on memorandums of understanding. Also, I would like to mention future issues in relation to the above activities.
