摘要：
The peculiarities are considered of optical emission and absorption observed in island metal films (IMFs) exposed to pulsed laser irradiation or some other excitation. Special emphasis is given to the effect of the island shape on the absorption and emission, as well as sound generation in IMFs deposited on insulating substrates.
