The article focuses on the influence exerced by the tales of The Thousand and One Nights on abbe Voisenon's tales and on the consequent effects. The first part of the article briefly summarizes the evolution of oriental tale in France. Then follows the analysis of three tales by abbe Voisenon - Zulmis et Zeimaide, Le Sultan Misapouf et la Princesse Grisemine, ou les Metamorphoses et La Navette d'Amour. The analysis concentrates on exploring the usage of certain motives and typical features of oriental tale "a la francaise" and the changes triggered by the adaptation of the genre.
