ENDOGENOUS OXALOSIS PRODUCING SYMPTOMS IN ADULTS

A postmortem study of a 34 year old women with primary oxalosis is reported. Histologically crystallized material was found predominantly in the urinary excretory system. There was no chronic pyelonephritis. Crystals were also found within the cytoplasm of muscle cells of the arterial blood vessels, the esophagus and the heart. Intracapillary oxalate crystals were detected in the lung and glomerula. The disease was probably hereditary, since a brother had also died of this disease. In both cases special attention is called to the oxalate crystals in the media of the arterial blood vessels of the cutis and corium, which led to symptoms of Raynaud's disease. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
