摘要
The discovery that enzymes can be active in nearly anhydrous organic media has greatly expanded their potential for use in syntheses, particularly as it has been found that the nature of the solvent can influence enzyme selectivity. In this review, we discuss the effects of changing the reaction medium on enzyme enantio- and regioselectivity, examine the possible reasons for this phenomenon, and consider the prospects for exploiting 'medium engineering' in organic transformations.
