The crystal structure of cis-diamminebis{9-[(2-hydroxyethoxy) methyl] guanine}platinum(II) chloride dihydrate (systematic name: bis{2-amino-1,9-dihydro-9-[(2-hydroxyethoxy) methyl]-6H-purin-6- one-N-7}diammineplatinum(II) chloride dihydrate), cis-[Pt(C8H11N5O3)(2)(NH3)(2)]Cl-2.2H(2)O, was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Pt atom is cis-coordinated by the N atoms of two ammine ligands and by an N atom from each of two 9-[(2-hydroxyethoxy) methyl]guanine ligands. The geometry around the Pt atom deviates slightly from square-planarity. The complex crystallizes in the trigonal space group P3(1)21.
