EDGE STATE LOCALIZATION FOR A QUANTUM WIRE IN HIGH MAGNETIC-FIELD

摘要
Under the small overlapping of edge states the behavior of the zero mode localized least in the longitudinal direction is analyzed. The Nth channel population related to it is found to be significantly less than the population of the states with numbers n=0, 1,..., and N-1. The marked role of the Nth channel is due to the fact that backscattering takes place only in this state. Thus, the zero mode reducing the backscattering probability increases its localization scale.
